Biggenden Market Still Strong

 

Burnett Livestock and Realty’s fortnightly meatworks and store sale on Monday 22 September saw a yarding of 1648 head sell to a strong market. Meatworks cattle again sold to a strong market being firm to slightly cheaper while the cattle were of lesser quality than previous weeks. Store cattle were fully firm for better quality while lesser quality stores sold to a slightly cheaper market. Many crossbreed steers made from 200-215c/kg but a highlight was a pen of light Santa Brangus cross weaner steers on account of Gary and Sue Turner and family, Charnwood, Lowmead that sold for 218.2c or $414.

 

Cattle were drawn from Cracow, Monto, Eidsvold, Mundubbera, Binjour, Gayndah, Goomeri, Miriam Vale, Lowmead, Yandaran, Bundaberg, Bargara, Burnett Heads, South Kolan, Woodgate, Childers, Mt Perry, Gin Gin, Maryborough, Hervey Bay, Torbanlea, Bauple and all local areas.

 

The Gibbs family, Biggenden sold a Grain Accredited Charolais bullock for 205.2c or $1672 and also sold 8 bulls for 185.2c or $1273. Gary and Sue Turner and family, Charnwood, Lowmead sold bulls to top at 187.2c or $1498, while cows from the Turner’s topped at 172.2c or $888. M & MA Latza, Mundubbera sold Braford cross bullocks off the oats for 202.2c or $1243. L Onoprienko, Booyal sold Brangus bullocks for 202.2c or $1166. Kimber Industries, Coalstoun Lakes sold Brahman cross bullocks for 202.2c or $1192. P & N Warren, Booyal sold 4 and 6 tooth Brahman cross bullocks for 203.2c or $1104.
