Buffalo Fly Control

We are starting to see the first affects of buffalo fly on cattle, with the worst still to come as we get more rain. Talk to your preferred animal health product supplier to discuss control options. Please be mindful of withholding and export slaughter intervals when choosing a product. Buffalo fly are damaging and cause considerable distress to cattle and control is important.

2012 Cattle Sale Calendar

Our 2012 calendars are now available.

Contact our office on 41 271277 if you would like one - they are available to collect from our office or at the saleyards on sale days.

2012 Steer Sale

Please click on this link to see our Steer Sale flyer for categories and prizes 2012 Steer Sale

We have new categories this year, focussing on breed rather than weight; and we have introduced a Lucky Vendor Prize to the sale so that a random vendor who did not win a category is eligible to win the Lucky Vendor Prize. Note – the only way to win the crush or other great prizes is to sell the cattle.

Wanted – 80 or more Brahman or Brahman cross weaner steers.

Administration Team Visit Dalby Saleyards

Our Administration Team of Tina, Kylie and Stephanie sacrificed Melbourne Cup day to travel to Dalby Saleyards on a study trip. The team spent the Tuesday night at the yards and returned to the yards on sale day to look at weighing, scanning and administrative processes.  They also caught up with some familiar faces in the buyer gallery. It was extremely worthwhile and some aspects will shape future processes at the Biggenden Saleyards. We should acknowledge Ian Henderson, Dalby Saleyards Superintendent, and the team at the yards for their hospitality and help.

Our Biggenden Cattle Sale Prices graph shows continued record averages for Biggenden with a slight

recovery at the 7th November sale after a drop in October. Prices remain a good ten cents above

previous years’ averaged for this time of the year.
